HERE COMES AUTUMN

“ While in Summer we have abundance, in Autumn we only have what is necessary.”
Lourenço de Azevedo
Book "Regenerar"

Although it does not seem like it, because temperatures in Portugal remain high for the season, we entered the autumn equinox on September 23.
Days are getting shorter and shorter, soon the luminosity will be less intense than that of summer, and the nights will be cooler and more humid.

Warm palette

When we are walking through the streets and gardens we can see a palette of warm colours in the treetops and on the leaves scattered on the ground: yellow, dark red, ochre and brown. This same warm palette also appears in some foods of this season: pumpkins, persimmons and chestnuts.
These and other autumn foods can be excellent subjects for expressive drawings and watercolours.

The autumn season brings a different energy, milder than the summer. So, this is the ideal time of year to slow down our daily pace a little and take short breaks throughout the day. We can stop for a while to drink our favourite tea, to taste some roasted chestnuts, to observe the landscape, to journal, or just to be consciously in the here and now.

In autumn nature frees itself from everything it doesn’t need.
In alignment with this process, we can take the opportunity to get rid of things that we no longer use, to reorganize our wardrobes and bookshelves and perhaps donate things that we no longer need, but that may be useful to someone else.

Invitation

Autumn season invites us to connect with ourselves, to enjoy moments of calm and to organize our lives more efficiently, in order to simplify them.
